Audra is a singular artist in terms of the range and range of her skills as a performer and song writer. In 2015, she won record-breaking 6 Tony Awards as well as two Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards. In 2014, she created Broadway history, becoming an official Tony Awards most decorated performer after she received the sixth Tony Award for her performance as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill the role which was also the vehicle for her Olivier Award-nominated 2017 debut in the London's West End. As the first actress to be recognized in all four acting categories, McDonald also beat the record in the total number of awards that an actor has received. The credits she has in the theater are The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (993) Henry IV (2004) and 110 in the Shade (707). Twelfth Night marked McDonald's Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut. Shuffle Along is the Making of the Musical Seduction in 1921 and the Drama That Followed. McDonald was first introduced to the TV audience as a dramatic actor in Peabody Award winning CBS's Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters first 100 years. After starring with Kathy Bates, Victor Garber and other actors in the highly acclaimed Disney/ABC remake of Annie in 1999, McDonald appeared as been a regular character on NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald's first Emmy came for the HBO film version of the Pulitzer Prize winner Wit. Directed by Mike Nichols with Emma Thompson as the main character, McDonald then was back on network television in 2003. She starred in Mister Sterling and produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. The Bedford Diaries, a WB television show that premiered in the year 2006. Then she had a recurring part on NBC's Kidnapped in the year following. McDonald was awarded an 4th Emmy nomination for her role in HBO's special film of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill in the year the year 2016. The Bite was a six episodes pandemic-themed drama created through Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. McDonald was first seen in The Good Wife, a CBS legal drama The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick from 2009 to 2018 reprised the role (now known as Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight in the role of an Paramount+ season regular. McDonald was nominated to win the three Critics Choice Award awards. She is currently appearing as a guest in Julian Fellowes' historical thriller The Gilded Age on HBO.
