As the first actress to be recognized in all four acting categories, McDonald also beat the record in the total number of awards that an actor has received. The credits she has in the theater are The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (993) Henry IV (2004) and 110 in the Shade (707). Then she had a recurring part on NBC's Kidnapped in the year following. McDonald was awarded an 4th Emmy nomination for her role in HBO's special film of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill in the year the year 2016. McDonald was first seen in The Good Wife, a CBS legal drama The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick from 2009 to 2018 reprised the role (now known as Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight in the role of an Paramount+ season regular. McDonald was nominated to win the three Critics Choice Award awards. She is currently appearing as a guest in Julian Fellowes' historical thriller The Gilded Age on HBO.
